But the waiting's almost over, and it looks like the "Negron plan," the proposal backed by Senate President Joe Negron for a reservoir south of Lake Okeechobee to curb discharges and algae pollution from the lake, is going to make it.
Late Tuesday media outlets were reporting that the state House — which had not yet introduced its own version of the reservoir bill — was prepared to accept the Senate bill. That proposal, SB 10, included adding $64 million to the state budget next year, and allowed for bonding — that is, borrowing — the following three years.
