Call me jaded, but I don't trust Florida's leaders to selflessly deliver on promises to fix our state's pollution problems.
Not even when they write those promises into state law.
And not even when the governor signs those laws during merry ceremonies, as Rick Scott did in May for a bill to create a new reservoir south of Lake Okeechobee.
We've been burned too many times. And there are too many powerful, moneyed interests fighting conservation efforts in the Sunshine State.
So, with that skepticism nagging me, I contacted state Senate President Joe Negron. The reservoir law, Senate Bill 10, was his baby.
