TALLAHASSEE — U.S. Rep. Brian Mast said Tuesday he's working on a bill to expedite a proposed reservoir to curb Lake Okeechobee discharges.
He also acknowledged he'll have a hard time drumming up support on Capitol Hill — even harder than Senate President Joe Negron is having in the Florida Legislature.
Mast joined Captains for Clean Water, a group of recreational anglers and charter fishing guides who visited the state capital Tuesday, to lobby for a bill to build the reservoir, which would hold 100 billion to 120 billion gallons of water that now pollutes the St. Lucie River.
