Now or Neverglades Declaration

I support the 200-plus Everglades scientists who have determined that increased storage, treatment and conveyance of water south of Lake Okeechobee is essential to stop the damaging discharges to the coastal estuaries; to restore the flow of clean, fresh water to Everglades National Park, Florida Bay and the Florida Keys; to improve the health of Lake Okeechobee; and to protect the drinking water for 8 million Floridians living in Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Time is now. We can no longer ignore or “kick the can down the road”. If we won’t take action now, who will? We are talking about our environment, our health, way of life, our survival.

I live on Bessey Creek and have watch the creek go from clear water and thriving wildlife to brown, coffee colored water and few wildlife in just the 15 1/2 years I have lived here. Thank you for your guidance in letting us know which candidates will possibly do something to clean up our waters.

If, this resorvior can be created, water can be treated with cheap ultrasound buoys, I can’t remember the name of company, but sounds like a telecommunication company. Harmless to wildlife, apparently, no chemicals. Buoy monitors parameters and sends info by sattelite. May work in the lake itself, at least as part of plan. It seems like the tourist industry is also more lucrative for Florida than sugar cane. Need to stop poluting with fertilizer runoff too. Is that fertilizer from Monsanto? Seems to me they have a lot of creative scientists that could create something not poisonous to anyone.I don’t wish to harm farmers though. The produce the food we eat. Seems like California has problems in that area too. Food for people, especially healthy affordable food is important too.
