Senator Joe Negron (R) FL Senate District 25
Senate President-Designate Joe Negron is a pioneer in the fight for Everglades restoration. In 2013, Senator Negron was instrumental in having the Senate commission an in-depth study by the University of Florida Water Institute to determine the best course of action to solve the horrendous discharges from Lake O to the east and west – decimating the ecosystems of two vital estuaries. Under careful consideration, Sen. Negron took the time to examine the issues of Central Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) and found out for himself that actions need to be taken in order to restore the historic flow of the Everglades. Sen. Negron has proposed a critical plan for Everglades restoration that includes purchasing 60,000 acres of land in the EAA to store the excess water from Lake Okeechobee before getting it cleaned and sending it south. He is a proud signer of the Now Or Neverglades Declaration. Like us, Senator Negron knows it’s #NowOrNeverglades. For more information, visit Joe Negron’s website at joenegron.com.
In this video for TC Palm, Senator Negron discusses his plan beginning at the 3:04 mark.
