Jim Bonfiglio graduated from the University of Rochester in 1975 with a double major in Political Science and History. He attended Loyola University School of Law where he graduated in 1979 with a Juris Doctor degree. He was admitted to the Florida Bar shortly afterwards in December 1979. Jim first began practicing insurance defense, then had a general practice narrowing the scope to Plaintiff insurance issues and foreclosure defense. Later, he focused his practice in the area of mortgage foreclosure defense. He has concentrated exclusively in representing wronged consumers who are facing the loss of their homes to their mortgage lenders since the late 1980s.
Jim has lived in the community of Ocean Ridge, FL since 1988, where he currently resides with his 3 rescue Shar Pei dogs. He was appointed to the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission in April 2000, elected as the vice-chairman for 7 years and then elected chairman in 2008, where he continued to serve in that capacity until March 2014 upon his election to the Ocean Ridge Town Commission for a 3 year term. He was reelected to a 2nd 3 year term in March 2017. He served one year as vice mayor and currently serves as the mayor.
