Jay Varano works as the Field Coordinator for Everglades Trust. His role involves keeping track of community events, staying in touch with the community, attending events related to the organization’s cause, as well as maintaining relations with officials and community leaders.
He is a graduate of the School of Arts and Sciences at Palm Beach Atlantic University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Politics. Before joining Everglades Trust, Jay worked in the hospitality industry and founded two political organizations at Palm Beach Atlantic University. He is very passionate about restoring the Everglades because it is the literal lifeline of Florida.
Jay was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but grew up in Florida. Raised in a military family, he has lived all over the Sunshine State – from Pensacola to Hollywood. However, he spent most of his time in Brevard County where he enjoyed the many barrier islands and beautiful beaches Brevard had to offer which led to his love for the outdoors and enthusiasm for environmental issues.
“How can we be so arrogant? The planet is, was, and always will be stronger than us. We can't destroy it; if we overstep the mark, the planet will simply erase us from its surface and carry on existing. Why don't they start talking about not letting the planet destroy us?”
