Barbara grew up with the understanding that service to community and country was an important part of being an American. She was born into a military family in the Navy town of Charleston, South Carolina where her father was a training instructor for the Navy’s fleet ballistic missile submarine program. Later, Barbara’s family shipped out to serve at the Naval Communication Station in Kenitra, Morocco, followed by an assignment at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base on the island nation of Cuba where her dad, now a Naval intelligence officer, served during the Bay of Pigs conflict.
She served as part of the Florida Delegation for Hillary Clinton at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Following a devastating loss in November 2016, Barbara has stepped up her work in support of the Florida Democratic party in an effort to help elect progressive pro choice women and men to the Florida legislature. She currently works part time as a Florida Licensed Community Association Manager (LCAM) in Kissimmee.
